POETRY BONANZA

Between poets and musicians the Black Swan Gallery in Binalong was fairly humming on
Sunday afternoon at A Brush with Poetry. People came from Cootamundra to Canberra, Binalong to Bungendore, Tumut to ...Yass. We laughed, we cried (almost) we were 'cut to the bone'. New poets, published poets, prize performance poets. A dramatic presentation of The Man from the Snowy River by John Peel and his own response The Bloke from Brindabella! Thanks Robert Verdon for topical poems and Victoria McGrath for her LOVVVE poem - yes - published in Australian Love Poems edited by Mark Tredinnick. Extraordinary harmonica from Jeff Brown, superb singing and ukelele from Siobhan McGrath, scintillating squeeze box from Isabella. Champion performer Robyn Sykes' poem told of how stories change as they 'get folded with history.' Thanks to local artist Yvette Gilroy our host and owner of the Black Swan Gallery. The next Brush With Poetry is on September 29, 1.30 for 2 pm. Everyone welcome. Everyone gets a turn.
