New developments in Australian poetry!

1. Byron Bay Writers Festival/Picaro Press Poetry Anthology

Submit poem/s between April 5 and April 30. Application fee $45 (ouch). Forms and information available from April 5 at www.varuna.com.au

2. Newcastle Poetry Prize Unpublished Manuscript Awards

Deadline June 30. Book-length MS. Varuna will shortlist 10; the Newcastle Poetry Prize Committee will choose four finalists. Forms and more info at www.varuna.com.au

ALL FOUR will:

• have a selection of work included in a Picaro Press anthology to be launched at Newcastle Poetry Prize ceremony 2010
• receive 20 hours editorial partnership to develop MS
• have their MS published by Picaro and launched at Varuna September 2011 and also at Newcastle Poetry Prize ceremony November 2011
• receive a 2-week fellowship at Varuna in September 2011 to work on next MS
