BLAKE POETRY PRIZE: HIGHLY COMMENDED

Breaking News
My poem Prayer: Quick & Dirty has just been Highly Commended in the 2013 Blake Poetry Prize and I am very happy. Maybe not as happy as the winner though. Congratulations to Anthony Lawrence on taking out the $5000 first place, and to the other Highly Commended poets Amanda Joy, Anthony Lawrence (again) and Chloe Wilson.
Poems are available for download at http://www.blakeprize.com/galleries/the-blake-poetry-prize You'll find the gallery of Blake Art Prize finalists there as well.

I was on my way to Sydney today for the function in the CoFA Galleries, Paddington. Drove to Goulburn, sat on the Countrylink train 45 minutes waiting for clearance - nope no access by rail or road due to raging bush fires in the Southern Highlands, got off train, drove back to Binalong. Murphy's Law. But I'm safe, and many many other people have sadly lost their homes.

I was up towards that way just last week. Myself and two poet friends Kathy and Victoria sat up the back of a bus with our notebooks and pens scribbling, on a run to Bungonia Gorge near Marulan NSW, with Binalong locals.

Ooops

Bungonia Gorge, October 2013. Dry.
