2011 Rosemary Dobson Poetry Prize split: Lizz Murphy & Kristen Lang

Pleased - to say the least - that I am co-winner of the 2011 Rosemary Dobson Poetry Prize with Kristen Lang of Tasmania.  The $3000 prize is for an unpublished poem by an Australian poet. My poem The Architecture of Pear can be found at the artsACT site where you'll also find winners and shortlists of the David Campbell Prize (poem by an ACT region poet - Paul Cliff), Judith Wright Prize (published collection - Ann Shenfield), Alec Bolton Prize (unpublished manuscript - Julie Chevalier). No fanfare - cheque in the post. Congratulations everyone.

  1. Congratulations Lizz. I love the structure of your poem, with the diverse small sections with quite different feelings adding up to something very special, as if we were seeing the same thing from all different angles simulataneously.

And did you notice the short-list for the Judith Wright? Something I've never seen in an open competition before; an all female short-list.
(I'm having trouble posting this, so if it goes through twice please forgive.)
