Pensions - a poem

WHO WILL BURY THE PENSIONERS?

Old people beaten up for their cash
You wonder how they could have any on a pension
but that generation survived The Depression
they’re used to looking after the pennies
And the pounds that looked after themselves
they bury under the mattress or at the back of the shelves
baiting thieves because the government will cut their payments
if they show savings for more than a kitchen tap washer
but how else can they be buried
