Canberra Region poets awarded funding

Congratulations to Paul Cliff, Melinda Smith and Lizz Murphy (moi) – three poets to receive funding from the ACT Government to write new poetry in 2011. Click here to see all arts grants made in this round. I will be writing poems about ‘girls, women and other birds’. Discovering Mary Oliver’s poem Small Bodies helped me gather together my otherwise scattered thoughts and develop this concept into something workable. I am resisting giving you the last two lines. Small Bodies is published in Red Bird (Bloodaxe Books 2008).
