In my handbag ...

I like Bronwyn Lea's style. So far I have read about the green and watery/vernacular of the natural world ('Ordinary Grace' p. 125), the snake that sidled away like a swollen river ('The Snake Nest' p. 21); and how to desire: desire desire until your lungs/expand like a universe ('Two Ways Out' p. 19). Her eponymous poem is a fresh take on the power of names and issues of women's identity - the final line strikes of chilling truth but to share it here would ruin a good story! So shift your mysterious bones and order The Other Way Out (Giramondo 2008) from your nearest good bookshop meanwhile think of me not in any hurry yet to find a way out of this collection.
